“The Laramie Project”

THE LARAMIE PROJECT is a highly acclaimed drama based on an unforgettable event.  In 1998, Matthew Shepherd, an openly gay college student in Laramie Wyoming was the victim of a vicious hate crime from which he ultimately died.  After his death, the members of a NY theatrical company travelled to Laramie to interview its residents.  The play is a compilation of these interviews, journal entries, and found texts. It reflects the reactions to this horrific crime as well as the hopes, aspirations, and compassion of a town trying to heal itself.
