This film is a celebration of how the ground-breaking Beat poetry and folk movements that evolved out of a few small cafes on Bleecker and MacDougal Streets in New York City changed the politics and culture of a nation, and interweaves it with artists of today, who are using their own original music and poetry in contemporary protest movements.
The film is filled with appearances by iconic legends such as Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg, Woody Guthrie, Bob Dylan, Maria Muldaur, Richie Havens, Pete Seeger and many others. This documentary celebrates creativity, protest, and original ways to fight conformity.
