My Name is Rachel Corrie, produced by and starring Johanna Griesé will be performed at new venue in Dumbo, TheRatNyc, at 68 Jay Street in Brooklyn, Friday the 11 at 8pm and Saturday the 12 at 8pm.  Tickets can be purchased at theratnyc.com.  The play is the diaries and writings of the late activist Rachel Corrie, who went to Palestine in the early 2000s with the non violent Palestinian led organization, International Solidarity Movement.  She was killed trying to stand in front of a bulldozer to stop the demolition of a civilian home.  Any profits will go to mutual aide and to the Baladi Palestine Animal Rescue.  The play is a one woman show and tells Rachel’s story of coming into her own as an artist and an activist, and is very relevant to the now.  The play is to me about Hope, that one person can make a difference and offer that spark of hope in dark times.
