FUERZAfest is a Latinx LGBTQI art festival that will span two weeks under the theme “The Power of Storytelling to Drive Change,” featuring dozens of queer Latinx artists who will showcase their theater, dance, comedy, art, drag shows, and culture to advance social change.

The audience will enjoy a series of events including an art exhibit, music concert, a documentary, a short film premier, a comedy night, and dance performances, led by LGBTQI+ Latinx community members. The main feature of the festival is the one-of-its-kind theater play contest featuring ten different one-act plays addressing the most pressing issues of our time. The festival will close with an award ceremony honoring the winner plays.

“FUERZAfest is an inspiring and impactful celebration of love, joy, and creativity of our Latinx and LGBTQI+ communities using art to tell our collective story.” said Mario Colón, founder of FuerzaFest and Vice President for Special Initiatives at Hispanic Federation.

FUERZAFest comes at a time when the LGBTQ+ community is facing the worst year in history with over 500 anti-LGBTQ bills in legislatures across the country, and Latinx immigrants are facing several barriers, discrimination, and their rights eroded. FUERZAfest is a space of advocacy, activism and action by using arts as a tool for education, awareness and inspiring action
