Halloween Movie Night and Costume Contest with Machine Dazzle : The Eyes of Laura Mars

Put together a killer outfit for MAD Museum’s Halloween screening of the 1978 noir thriller Eyes of Laura Mars. Faye Dunaway stars as the glamorously controversial New York fashion photographer who suddenly develops the ability to see through the eyes of a homicidal maniac. The evening will be hosted by the genre-defying artist Machine Dazzle, whose outré outrageous costumes are currently on view in Queer Maximalism x Machine Dazzle. In addition to screening an original 35mm cut of the stylish neo-noir, there will be a costume contest, candy giveaways, a step-and-repeat custom-designed by Machine Dazzle to capture all the drama, and a surprise guerrilla street theater moment outside the Museum inspired by the film’s decadent fashion photography created by none other than superstar photographer Helmut Newton.

Movie Night with Machine is a screening series of five beloved throwback films curated by Machine Dazzle to accompany his solo exhibition, Queer Maximalism x Machine Dazzle. All released in the late seventies and early eighties, these films delighted the young artist and helped to shape his omnivorous approach to culture. Playful and predictably over-the-top, Movie Night with Machine evenings will include costume contests, a custom-designed step-and-repeat, giveaways, photoshoots, and more!  The films will be introduced by Machine and will be followed by talk backs with the artist.
