Folk Art: Mexican Day of the Dead
Experience the most recognizable Mexican cultural event “the Day of the Dead” in which passed loved ones are remembered with joy and celebration. Renowned artist Zafiro Romero-Acevedo returns to the Pelham Art Center to share the history of one of Mexico’s richest cultural traditions. In honor of the Center’s late director, there will be a live performance by Mariachi Artístico, free children’s workshop, and cultural items made in Mexico for available for purchase.
In participation, the community is welcome to bring one memento of their passed loved ones (including four legged friends), along with their name and contact information, to the office. They will be handled with care and respectfully placed them on the Ofrenda which will be displayed at the art center’s windowsill.
Please note: Do not bring anything valuable (just their most simple items: their favorite tea cup, a coffee mug, their favorite book, or even a photo of them. For four legged friends you can bring a photograph, their favorite stuffed toy, or their collar/tag).
