Bureau Exhibit IG Square-2

EXHIBIT OF OVER 60 LESBIAN ARTISTS 40 AND ELDER

May 17 – September 8, 2024

Dyke+ ArtHaus, based in Philadelphia, is a community-driven space for Dyke artists of all persuasions, centering those 40 and over. Invited to visit the Bureau of General Services—Queer Division in New York City for the summer, D+AH put out an Open Call for U.S.-based Dyke/Lesbian-identified artists, 40 years of age and over. Artists from 14 States responded by submitting works of sculpture, painting, collage, photography, textile, drawing, and installation. Visual art created at any time was considered.

Co-curated by Juno Rosenhaus, Dyke+ ArtHaus Founder, and Lola Flash, artist and activist, this exhibit aims to reflect the diversity of Dykes and the diversity of their art practices. The theme is the show itself.

The Dyke+ ArtHaus Visits the Bureau exhibit continues the lineage of lesbian artist exhibitions such as A Lesbian Show (1978), The Dyke Show (1979), Great American Lesbian Art Show (1980) and Rebel Dykes Art and Archive Show (2021).

The Bureau is open Wednesday through Sunday, 1-7 PM
