Circles: An Evening of Art & Circus on the LES

The Circle is a a symbol of inclusivity and unity, and in its honor, we’re opening our doors to all who are interested in art, culture and connection during a very special private gallery reception, artist talk and performance at the Voltz Clarke gallery on Thursday November 3rd!
Field Kallop’s new show, Circles, at the Voltz Clarke Gallery, sets out to examine, synthesize and balance the opposing principles embodied by these familiar shapes — a shape which is also very much present in the work of the evening’s guest performer, Kelsey Strauch. Strauch is a multifaceted movement artist specializing in object manipulation and equilibristics. She was recently seen on the Metropolitan Opera stage as a member of the juggling ensemble in Philip Glass’s ‘Akhnaten’.
In addition to a private, guided walk-through and talkback with Kallop, we will also be delighted by an intimate hoop performance by Strauch in which she paints mesmerizing visuals by combining circus technique with the softness of flow arts.
This is a unique opportunity to experience the work of both artists, up-close and personal in an intimate, friendly setting and to learn more about their process and inspirations, all while mingling with fellow art-lovers over wine, beer provided by Dyke Beer, and snacks.
Event is gender-inclusive and open to all! Bring a date or friend who might be interested in adding more art, culture and connection to their lives!
