The Westchester Alliance of Black School Educators (WABSE) and the New Rochelle Black History Month Committee (NRBHMC), with support from sponsors including the New Rochelle Council on the Arts, is proud to present, once again, this annual event! This year’s event will commemorate the 70th anniversary of the 1954 Brown v. Board of Education decision. An attempt to end the era of “separate but equal” public schools, the Brown v. Board of Education decision continues to impact school districts across the country today. Enjoy a dynamic Spoken Word and Art exhibition of student work in the Rotunda, outside of the Whitney M. Young Auditorium, along with a special exhibition on the historic Lincoln Corridor; Humble Bumble will offer a selection of the latest books from local authors including Dr. LaRuth Gray, Michael Eaddy, Luis Quiros and others. Plus check out handmade wares by local artisans, take media wall photos, visit the Museum of Arts and Culture and the Planetarium! There will also be face painting, scavenger hunts and book giveaways for kids as well as food from local restaurants Suggaplums, Ray’s Empanadas and Chef El Amin! From 5 pm to  6:30 pm attendees are invited to enjoy an evening of rich, performing arts in the auditorium featuring DJ Smithy Boy, the New Rochelle High School Jazz Band, PAVE dancers and the Renaissance Choir.
