“Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story” Film Screening

Join Scribe in celebrating Pride Month AND Black Music Month at Scribe on Friday, June 13 at 7 PM for a screening of “Any Other Way: The Jackie Shane Story” followed by a Q&A with filmmakers, Michael Mabbott and Lucah Rosenberg-Lee.
Groundbreaking soul music artist Jackie Shane was on the cusp of stardom in the late 1960s when she turned away from the music industry and the world. The uniquely talented musician and singer was “trans” before the now more common usage of the designation. After her death, family members piece together her remarkable life, uncovering her personal struggles, immense talent, and unmistakable voice. In addition to the remarkably rendered reenactments, there are never before heard audio recordings and beautifully expressive animation which allow Jackie to tell her story.
