The Byrd Cancer Education & Advocacy Foundation is excited to announce our upcoming “All Things Cancer & Wellness Expo” event, sponsored by Touch, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance. Our expo aims to raise cancer awareness, promote healthy living, and provide support to communities in the Philadelphia Tri-State Area. The event will take place on April 27, 2024, at the MQFactory, located at 126 Leverington Ave, Philadelphia, Pa 19127, from 10 am to 5 pm.

The “All Things Cancer & Wellness Expo” is a comprehensive initiative that addresses the diverse needs of communities, especially those facing higher cancer disparities. The primary objectives of the expo include:

Educating and Empowering Communities:

  • Providing resources and information on healthy living, early detection, family history, sexual health, genetic testing, and self-advocacy.
  • Focusing on high-risk and marginalized communities to ensure access to crucial information.

Supporting Cancer Thrivers:

  • Offering encouragement and connecting cancer thrivers to necessary assistance throughout their journey.
  • Creating a supportive environment to foster resilience and community connection.

Raising Awareness and Breaking Stigmas:

  • Dedicated to breaking stigmas surrounding testing through a day of awareness and support
  • Offering free Bexa Breast Screening Exam and confidential HIV testing to the community.

We’re especially thrilled about the premiere documentary screening of “A Letter to My Sisters: the Erica Jo Robinson Story.” A Letter to My Sisters, a breast cancer awareness documentary has garnered support from influential figures, including Senator Coons of Delaware, Rep Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware, Lt Gov Bethany Hall-Long of Delaware, and PA Speaker of the House, Rep Joanna McClinton.
