9 Days of Navaratri

This event has already taken place.Oct. 16, 5 – 6:30 pm. Oct. 17, 2 – 5 pm. Oct. 18 & 19, 2 – 3 pm. Oct. 20, 2 – 5 pm. Oct. 22, 10 am – 3:30 pm.

The Hindu festival of Navaratri is one of India’s most creative festivals! It is a festival that celebrates the creative energies within us. The festival is an opportunity to discover our creative powers, acknowledge and give reverence to them. Hence Aksarā Studio has creative workshops lined up for all age groups for the 9-day duration of the festival.

SAT, OCT 14, 2:30-4 PM, ages 6-9, Navaratri Craft Workshop: Make Navaratri festival decorations with paper and mixed media and in the process gain skills to cut and fold paper in unique ways.

MON, OCT 16, 5-6:30 PM, all ages, Saree Workshop: Learn to wear India’s most elegant dress in this workshop. There are 100 ways to wear and drape a saree!

TUE, OCT 17, 2-3pm, ages 3-5, Toddler Studio: Toddlers will learn about the three main Goddesses of the festival: Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati and, engage in art activities related to the festival.

3:30-5pm, 6-12 yrs., Recycle Upcycle: Every class we will explore various recycled materials like paper, cloth, tin cans and make art and/or design objects with it. Activities will be scaffolded for various ages.

WED, OCT 18, 2-3 PM, 3-5 yrs, Toddler Studio: Toddlers will learn about the three main Goddesses of the festival: Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati and, make their own Goddess drawing/painting.

THU, OCT 19, 2-3 PM, 3-5 yrs, Toddler Studio: Toddlers will learn about the three main Goddesses of the festival: Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati and, engage in art activities related to the festival.

FRI, OCT 20, 2-3 PM, Toddlers (3-5 yrs), Toddler Studio: Toddlers will learn about the three main Goddesses of the festival: Durga, Lakshmi & Saraswati and, make their own Goddess drawing/painting.
